Bibliographic Classification is the process of arranging, grouping, coding, and organizing books and other library materials. We are to classify biographies – whether they are individual or collective – in the biography number for the topic with which the biographee is most closely associated. This means that biographies of presidents are classed with the history of the country.
A library classification is a system used within a library to organize materials, including books, sound and video recordings, electronic materials, etc. Biographies of heads of state, monarchs, and politicians are classified in the history schedules. So are high-ranking members of government, such as cabinet ministers. (In the United States and perhaps elsewhere, they are called secretaries, such as the secretary of state, and secretary of defense.).
